Writer's Block: Your Favorite Series: One Last Go Round

If you could pick any TV show that has been off the air to come back for one more season, which show would you pick and why?

That's an easy one - the new Night Stalker series with Stuart Townsend and Gabrielle Union. ABC really screwed us over when they canceled the series in the middle of a two-part episode. Plus, they also showed episodes out of the original order and gave it basically no shot.

The series went to DVD and to the Sci Fi Channel, I believe, and when it is watched in the order it should go, it becomes even more clear that this series deserves a second chance. Only I wouldn't put it on network television, I'd revamp it and put it on HBO where it could get really involved and gritty and real.

Plus, Stuart Townsend. Come ON.

Well, I can't wait to see the new Nightstalker - but my anwer would be The Dresden Files (another SciFi channel cancellation after a single season)

The show was decent, and it was just starting to get really interesting at the end of the season, but then it got cancelled. For real appreciation of Harry Dresden, though, check out the books. They're an order of magnitude more badass, as is Harry in them.

For me it's a tie between The Dresden Files and Firefly. I watched the remake of Nightstalker, I was not impressed. The original Kolchak with Darren McGavin was so much better.

I wasn't impressed the first time around with Kolchak either, but once you leave behind continual commercials and watch everything in order, it becomes a different animal. Have you seen it on DVD or just when it was on ABC? But I have to say Firefly was my very close second choice to bring back. Only at least Firefly got the movie. Stuart Townsend got shafted. :)

I was recording it on ABC and skipping the commercials, but I also watched it through in order when all the episodes became available. Still didn't hold up to the original, in my opinion. I just liked Darren McGavin so much better, but then I don't care about Stuart Townsend one way or the other.

LOL. Maybe Stuart Townsend is a chick thing. But I enjoy both the old and the new. I just wonder why they even called it Night Stalker and instead didn't just create a whole new character and series instead of "updating" it since it wasn't really remotely alike except they were both reporters and both drove Mustangs and okay, both investigated weird crazy shit and nobody believed them, but hell, that's not really enough to say one is the same as the other.

I still want the damn series to come back, but on HBO instead of network television. I have SPOKEN. LOL

I *LOVE* the new Night Stalker series with Stuart Townsend and am pissed it was cancelled.

I don't have a big crush on Stuart, but I like him as an actor. They didn't give this show a chance, in my opinion. They also put it up against some other big show at the time, basically sealing it's demise.

I thought that the chemistry between all the main characters was great, the storylines fascinated me, etc.

And the DVD menu music alone creates such a great atmosphere in our place that I wish they had it on a CD.

So, yeah, I'd bring that show back. *LOL* (And on HBO it would be even better....)
